This is the ability to insert analytics tracking code, such as Google Analytics, into every page developed within CourseArc in order to view web traffic statistics.
In eLearning, boilerplate refers to any reusable chunks of content or code that are included in many different parts of a course with minor changes. CourseArc allows instructional designers to create boilerplate which reduces the time and effort required to bring a course to production by using templates, content blocks, and standard language to support the reuse and repurposing of content.
It is our experience that the very best courses are not created by one person, but rather by a small team of learning professionals with different strengths, perspectives, and ideas. CourseArc is designed to enable teams to work collaboratively by assigning members different levels of permissions based on their role, letting team members to assign tasks to each other, enabling the use of commenting to support peer review and the editing process, and the ability to use workflow approval features to ensure high-quality content. All communication about courses under development occurs inside CourseArc, making it very easy for colleagues, editors and course approvers to clearly and succinctly provide feedback and suggest course enhancements.
All video that is used in eLearning should be deployed using a streaming video service. This is for several reasons, including ensuring there is enough server bandwidth to playback videos without interruption, fewer limits on file size or type, ability to embed video in a standard output that will work in all browsers, and confidence that the video will play well on mobile devices.
*Therefore, we bundle Vimeo as an optional add-on for any of our Team, Professional, or Enterprise clients who do not already have their own video streaming service. We chose Vimeo because of its clean, modern look; the ability to add closed-captioning to videos using their built-in tool, Amara; the option to add password protect videos; and no video advertisements.
CourseArc allows content developers to use public domain images from Flickr. This is a great way to enable your team to use high-quality images without paying for an expensive stock image repository.
Single Sign On
We offer an LTI Single Sign On feature to allow your users to log into CourseArc from your LMS, making it easy to grant CourseArc access throughout your institution.
CourseArc allows you to display your data visually by automatically rendering them as pie charts, line graphs, or bar graphs. These easily-editable charts can be embedded in your courses as a dynamic content block, rather than a static image. Click here to see some examples embedded on a webpage.
The optional equation editor allows you to easily and quickly insert accessible equations into your content.
One of our most efficient, time-saving features for designers with multiple audiences, is multi-branding. This feature allows you to set up multiple themes for the same content. This allows you to change the brand associated with courses for different audiences and also allows content to be rebranded/white-labeled for reuse or resale. Click here to see a multi-branding example.
Blocks are pre-defined types of content within our tool that can be reused, such as a matching block or a flashcard block. A page of content is then constructed by arranging the customized blocks of content on the page. Using blocks ensures consistency across pages, modules, and courses. We offer professional consulting services, in addition to our licensing, if a client wants a custom block developed for their organization.
Users are the number of course creators and administrators who will be able to use your organization’s CourseArc account. (There is no limit on the number of students you can enroll in a course you create in CourseArc.)
This is the number of individual courses you are allowed to build within CourseArc. If you intend to create multi-branded courses (see below), each variation of a branded course counts as its own individual course.
CourseArc comes with 2 themes and 4 icon sets that can be customized with your organization’s colors and logo. If you’d like something customized for your organization, we offer custom design services with our Professional and Enterprise licenses.
You can insert your preferred traffic tracking code, such as Google Analytics, into every page you develop within CourseArc in order to view and report your web traffic statistics and learn insights from your user data.
